L'urne elle-même est faite d'une perle et est accentuée par du fil d'or, de plus petites perles de rocaille, de peinture noire, et, notablement, la initiale « D » semble être peinte à la main sur le piédestal de l'urne. Le médaillon est encadré d'émail doré et blanc, indiquant que la personne que ce bijou commémore était probablement célibataire. Au dos, on peut voir une mèche de cheveux contenue sous un panneau de verre. Il y a aussi une petite boucle de suspension au dos, de sorte que ce bijou peut être mis sur une chaîne et porté comme un collier si désiré.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e État : On observe de légers dommages et des pertes d’émail sur la partie inférieure gauche de la broche, ainsi que de légères rayures et des entailles sur le métal et le verre, témoignant de son âge. Cependant, compte tenu de la popularité et de l'utilisation courante des grenats à cette époque, il s'agit très probablement du type de pierre utilisé ici.  Il y a également un médaillon en verre derrière lequel se trouve une mèche de cheveux humains.  Au revers de la bague, une inscription indique « Mary (nom de famille illisible) décédée le 6 août 1821, âgée de 62 ans ».\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Ce qui est particulièrement intéressant avec ce bijou, c'est que l'inscription se poursuit sur chaque côté de la bague, contenant apparemment les dates de décès de plusieurs personnes. Il semble qu'elle ait autrefois fait tout le tour de la bague, bien qu'une partie soit maintenant manquante en raison d'un changement de taille ou d'une réparation. Quoi qu'il en soit, je n'ai personnellement jamais vu une autre bague de deuil avec des inscriptions aussi étendues qui se poursuivent sur la bague comme celle-ci, ni même une seule bague qui commémore plusieurs personnes, ce qui rend cette bague unique à mes yeux.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Notes sur l'état : Une perle de culture manquait lors de l'achat aux enchères et a depuis été remplacée. Le panneau de verre sur le devant est un peu trouble, ce qui rend difficile la visualisation des détails des cheveux en dessous. Des traces de soudure apparaissent au dos de la bague, suggérant un changement de taille à un moment donné. Environ la moitié de l'inscription est toujours lisible, bien que suffisamment petite pour qu'une loupe soit utile pour la lire entièrement, mais l'autre moitié de l'inscription est illisible\/trop effacée pour être déchiffrée avec précision. Le métal est probablement de l'or 9 carats, mais il n'a pas été testé. De même, si Hester Prynne était vivante aujourd’hui (et réelle), nous l’honorerions pour sa compassion, sa résilience et sa force intérieure, plutôt que de la faire cacher ce qui la rend unique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Le bracelet Hester est un bracelet antique doré, enchanteur et délicat, datant de la fin de l'époque géorgienne. Il est serti de pierres magnifiques, riches et lumineuses (présumées grenat, mais non testées, je le vends donc comme un bracelet à pierres factices). Les pastilles de grenat sont serties dans des montures à fond clos, en forme de croûte de tarte, avec un feuilletage sous les pierres, ce qui amplifie encore leur éclat (l'eau peut endommager les sertissages feuilletés, il est donc important de ne pas mouiller le bracelet). Le bracelet se ferme avec un fermoir à languette et rainure, le fermoir de la languette étant astucieusement caché dans l'un des sertissages des pierres. Ce type de fermoir est fantastique, car il permet de le fermer soi-même ! La monture en or possède également une belle patine qui témoigne un peu de son âge, mais ce n'est pas grave, car le vieillissement est beau. Normalement, j'aime bien nettoyer et polir mes pièces anciennes assez soigneusement, mais il y avait quelque chose dans la patine dorée de celui-ci qui fonctionnait si bien avec les pierres que j'ai décidé de le laisser tel quel. Je peux seulement imaginer le poignet délicat qu'il devait orner il y a quelques centaines d'années… où il a été, les dîners, les danses et les soirées qu'il a vus, témoignant du romantisme d'antan tout en scintillant à la lumière des bougies.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Le bracelet Hester mesure 6,5 pouces lorsque la languette est insérée, et 7 pouces au total lorsqu'il est déboutonné et que la longueur de la languette est ajoutée. Poids total : 13,26 grammes. Non marqué et non testé, mais semble être un alliage doré, non en or. Veuillez noter qu'il s'agit d'une pièce ancienne, et qu'elle a plus de 100 ans. En tant que tel, c'est une pièce d'occasion et elle n'est pas en parfait état. They were sourced from a \u003c\/span\u003elittle shop run by a 4th-generation family-owned business on Madison Avenue, NY. The story goes that the family, all those generations ago, had the foresight to buy their little building on Madison Ave instead of renting, so now, to this day, it remains in the family, and no crazy rentals fees have to be paid to corporate landlords. The current owner, in fact, grew up on the floor right above the shop! Originally immigrants from the Middle East, this family used to primarily sell imported textiles like Persian rugs and woven cotton cloths like keffiyehs from Palestine. However, as more and more textile mills in Palestine were destroyed throughout the 20th century, it became harder for them to source those items. So, they instead began sourcing other wonderful rare items, like these Persian Ottoman earrings, among other things, to keep their family business going.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhy did I share another business’s story with you? I always say, at the end of the day, antique jewelry, for me, is about the people and the lives behind the jewels.
