Georgian Girandole Paste Pendant
No se pudo cargar la disponibilidad de recogida
A Georgian classic, this silver pendant is in the Girandole style or motif, with some floral finishes, often seen dangling from the ears and necks of courtiers all over Europe during the Georgian era. This particular one is made of paste, with the intent to imitate the look of diamond stones.
At the time, given that paste was a relatively new invention in the world of jewelry, paste jewelry was not seen as “cheap” or “costume.” It was, in fact, quite fashionable (Marie Antoinette herself was said to have several parures of paste jewelry!). So, one can only imagine who may have owned this piece, oh so long ago…
Condition:
Structural integrity of pendant is strong. All original stones are in place, many remain bright, though the foil beneath many others appear to have suffered from oxidization or water damage, resulting in discoloration. It is possible to get them re-foiled by an antique specialist if the buyer desires.
