April = the month of Diamonds & Dew Drops! Did you know that there is a theory as to why humans, as a species, love gems so much? Scientists have theorized that the reason humans are attracted to shiny things (such as diamonds) goes beyond aesthetic appreciation, and is indeed driven by evolutionary instinct. Humans, like all creatures, have an instinct to survive. What’s our number 1 need for survival? Water, of course! So, the theory that’s been proposed is that we’re attracted to shiny sparkly things on an subconscious, evolutionary level because that sparkle and shine has the tendency to mimic the sparkle and reflection that water sources tend to have as light bounces off its surface! So naturally, our brains light up when they see something that resembles the primary resource needed to keep us alive!
