This sweet little brooch dates to the Georgian era, likely the latter half, and is composed of paste, or colored glass, meant to mimic the appearance of amethyst. This piece is foiled and closed-back, a technique typical of the Georgian era. The main stone leans toward a slightly more warm-toned purple, and is surrounded by two rows of twinkling clear paste stones, meant to mimic diamonds, all in wonderful condition and in tact. The actual brooch/pin mechanism is in-tact and in working order. Oxidization of the foil over the years is visible and concentrated toward the center of the setting. Light nicks and scratches to the main purple stone commensurate with age and wear.
